So, if you’re wondering if Menorca is good for teenagers, here’s the lowdown on all that this fantastic island has to offer families with adolescents.
Menorca is famous for its stunning beaches, which are not only some of the most beautiful in the Balearic Islands, but also the cleanest, making it one of the best family beach holiday destinations. Menorca has over one hundred beaches, so wherever you stay you will find you are never very far from one, even if you are based in the centre of the island. From secluded calas to wide sandy stretches, many of the beaches have gentle gradients down to the water and the sea is calm and crystal clear. Some of the beaches also have beachside cafes, ideal for that refreshing drink or snack, as well as pedalos and other amenities. Popular family beaches include Son Bou, Punta Prima and Cala Galdana.
Unlike its lively neighbours Ibiza and Majorca, Menorca offers a more peaceful and laid-back atmosphere, making it the best Balearic Island for families going away on holiday. It's perfect for families looking to escape the crowds and relax while also enjoying adventure and there are several exclusive areas of private villas that will ensure you feel safe and at ease. Some of the best all-round areas to stay in for children and teens are Son Ganxo, Cap d’en Font, Arenal d'en Castell and the Mahon Harbour area.
Menorca is filled with activities to keep your teens entertained. With its clear, calm waters and gentle breezes, Menorca is a great destination for water sports enthusiasts of all ages. You can try your hand at sailing, windsurfing, kayaking or paddle-boarding, or simply go snorkelling in the crystal-clear sea. Menorca is also perfect for outdoor activities on land, from walking and hiking to bike rides and horseback riding. Whatever your tastes, you’ll never be left wondering what there is to do in Menorca as a family.
Menorca boasts some great places to explore, from Instagrammable villages like Binibeca Vell and ancient Talayotic ruins to a zoological and water park. In the larger cities of Ciutadella and Mahon, there are also plenty of museums, shops, spas and health clubs as well as restaurants and cafes to enjoy. The island is small, so getting around by car hire is convenient and you can explore the entirety of this small Spanish island. A boat excursion or private boat charter from one of Menorca’s main ports is another fantastic way to explore the island's natural beauty.
Menorca is known for its delicious cuisine, which combines Mediterranean flavours with local ingredients. You can enjoy fresh seafood, paella and locally grown fruits and vegetables, and a variety of other traditional dishes. There is a vibrant restaurant scene offering cuisine from all over the world, many with outdoor patios to enjoy an al fresco lunch or dinner while taking in those magnificent views.
