Hidden Treasures of Menorca

30th July 2019

Known as the hidden gem of the Balearics, Menorca’s full of wonderful activities to enjoy but what’s even better about the island are the hidden spots that are waiting to be discovered. Here is a list of the lesser known activities in Menorca you can do on your holiday.

Cami de Cavalls

This a circular path which runs the perimeter of the island. You can walk, bike, sail or even horse ride round it! All while taking in the beautiful sights Menorca has to offer.

Playa de Cavalleria

This beach’s fame is characterised by its intense red rocks. For the ultimate beauty treatment, mix the beach’s clay with water and slather it all over yourself! A mud treatment, for free!

Lithica Labyrinths

The Lithica labyrinths are a great alternative to a trip to the beach. There are four labyrinths at Lithica, the maze winds through the quarries where the natural gardens have flourished within. The cavernous spaces showcase various species of plants native to the island.

Cova d'en Xoroi

Not quite a hidden treasure as this bar is probably one of Menorca’s most tourist spots but you can’t really go to Menorca without having a drink here. We highly recommend visiting just before sunset, you’ll thank us later!

Cala Turqueta

If you enjoy hiking and sunbathing by a quiet, relaxing beach, then we highly recommend a visit here. It takes approximately 30-40 minutes hike from Cala Macaralleta (another pretty beach but slightly busier) to Cala Turqueta or there’s also a small car park which you can walk from. This small bay is quiet with azure blue waters and a soft sandy beach.

Isla Del Rey

Reached by yellow catamarans, on this island you can experience a wonderful insight into the history of a naval hospital, medical history, dentistry and the last days of the Italian WWII battleship ROMA. This is a must-see for anyone visiting Mahon. The enthusiasm and knowledge of the guides bring the history of the place alive.

Mercat des Peix (Fish Market)

Go explore what the catch of the day in Mahon’s Plaça d'Espanya! Mahon’s fish market, Mercat del Peix, has been operating since 1927, it’s a vibrant and buzzing place, where you can buy a range of fresh fish caught that morning and many other local fresh produce.

Cala Morell

A sunset to remember; get there just before sunset and seek a good spot. Bring a few snacks and a drink to enjoy whilst watching one of (if not) the best sunsets in your life!
